The structure of the project seems to be centered around HR and Finance. In what ways is Student being handled differently? Are solution design packets currently underway for Student? If not, what is the timeline for them?
The Architect phase for Student is broken into two parts, Architect 1 and Architect 2. Architect 1 closely aligns with the HR and Finance Architect time frame, while Architect 2 begins in April and runs until the end of 2018. Because Workday is still developing the Student product, the project team is using Architect 1 to capture gaps and share them with Workday. This gives Ohio State the unique opportunity to influence the Workday product and ensure the features we need in a student information system are provided. The Student team is also creating draft versions of solution design packets (SDPs) that document the gaps, business processes and key decisions. During Architect 2, key decisions will be made and gaps will either be addressed by Workday or alternative solutions will be identified. The final SDPs will be completed by the end of Architect 2.
In what ways will the Enterprise Project support graduate and professional students?
The Student team is analyzing processes for all students, including undergraduate, graduate and professional students. The Ohio State implementation of Workday is also being designed and configured for all populations of students. The Student team was built with graduate and professional students in mind by including two graduate and professional staff as well as two graduate and professional admissions staff. The Student team has engaged various subject matter experts from the Graduate School and professional programs since the beginning of the project, and will continue to partner and communicate with this group as the project progresses.
Has any discussion happened around student transcript notes? Our college’s current process is very manual.
We are not yet at a point where any substantive conversations regarding transcript notes have occurred. But providing that functionality is within the scope of the project, as all design discussions have centered on establishing an efficient process for end users. There is nothing specific to share now, but as soon as concrete information is available, it will be communicated.
