What effect will the Enterprise Project have on the PI Portal, Effort Certification and Salary Cap reporting?
These systems and processes are all in scope to be replaced by Workday Financials.
We plan on replacing the PI Portal with a standard set of reporting tools that will be used across all financial reporting. PI Portal functionality is being closely reviewed to ensure that the new toolset will meet current requirements. We will continue to have functionality that will divide and send back the Facilities and Administrative (F&A) costs, overrun and residual balance transfers to units according to the expenditure allocations.
What will be the financial structure within Workday? How are composite rates going to be charged to departments?
Workday’s financial structure is called the Foundation Data Model (FDM). It is a multi-faceted classification system that allows users to attach common keywords, or “worktags” to transactions. By labeling information with worktags that are shared between business areas (Finance, HR, Payroll and Student), the university can more effectively report and analyze data. Additional information about the FDM, including frequently asked questions and worktag details, is available on the FDM overview webpage.
Benefit composite rates will be calculated at employee level within HR and Payroll, and no longer through a financial allocation process.
With Workday, what is changing for endowments?
Endowment income distribution will be recorded monthly. Workday will provide increased visibility – all gifts will be viewable as they are processed by Advancement. The “Gift” worktag will replace “Fund” for each gift.
